What’s the difference?

We get asked this from time to time, so I thought I would let you know, and take you behind the scenes of the exciting and dramatic world of document retrieval. 🙂

On our fee sheets, “document retrieval” fees apply to land records, not court records. Pulling the court records, even with the case numbers provided, has to be quoted.

This is because there is no uniformity of ease or difficulty in pulling court documents—some can be done online, some can’t.  Some can be gotten instantly, and some take several trips to the county.  In one county, it may be easy to get a bankruptcy but difficult to get a divorce decree, etc.  This is what necessitates the quotes for Court Document Retrievals.

Whether you need land documents or court documents, we can GET THOSE DOCUMENTS FOR YOU!
